I know that with your busy modern lifestyles, excessive alcohol intake and recreational drug abuse your brains now probably resemble soggy Play Doh with the residual functional capacity of a kumquat. A touch green about the gills.

I have to write a bandspam about next Saturdays gig but I'm way too hungover as a result of making the most of The Dragon Bar while we still have it. As such here is some other news:

• Obsolete Before You Start appears to be available on iTunes. Which is nice.
• Those crazy Cassette Electrik kids are playing at Madame JoJo's on Thursday AND they have a shiny new website: cassetteelectrik@wordpress.com
• There have been Moeker rumblings. The first for some considerable time. That is all.

Suppose I should get on with bandspamming. Ot throwing up. Or both.

MusicRiot podcast / Superstarcastic review

Some little rays of sunshine on this foggy grey Monday morning.

• Looptron is one of two artists featured on the MusicRiot Presents podcast (the other being Lucky Jim). I can't actually listen to it at the moment because the soundcard in this machine appears to be fried but if it follows their normal format you should be able to hear a couple of the EP tracks on there. There's also an interview with yours truly where I mostly talk shite. (Like normal, innit?)
• Superstarcastic have reviewed the EP. I liked this bit: "Actually, it makes me feel a lot more cheerful than most electronic music, which I think has less to do with the subject matter or the chord progressions and more to do with the fact that it sounds like Sharkey enjoys what he’s playing and isn’t just trying to make it big enough to get a plug from Pitchfork or his picture taken with Kraftwerk. Or maybe the Kraftwerk mannequins."

Which just goes to show I was right about that whole poker face thing all along - you gotta love  what you do. (Although that said if anyone can organise either of the above I won't complain in the slightest.)

It's been a busy couple of months in the Looptron command bunker and consequently I have a trio of important announcements to make. Gird your loins for incoming factoids NOW:

Important Announcement The First: I made an record! It's called Obsolete Before You Start and it's a 5-track EP of full-on beepy disco electronica meets Depeche Mode at a party Kraftwerk threw for Stephen Hawking's voice synthesiser. Or something. Genre descriptions aren't really a strong point round here. Anyway, you can listen to (and perhaps purchase) the whole thing from www.looptron.com/obsolete or CD Baby if you're so inclined.

Important Announcement The Second: As if releasing a record weren't enough! Those who were at the last gig may recall I invited the ravishing Miss Sarah Rogers onto the stage to lend some sauce to a tune. Well, we've recorded it and put it up on the website for your listening pleasure as a FREE download. Head over to www.looptron.com/music.html for that one - it's called Circus. Important Announcement The Third: There are plans to do a World Tour (snigger) to promote the EP in about April/May time (once it's up on iTunes and the like - details TBC) but for those who can't wait that long there'll be a beta test gig at the Bull & Gate   in Kentish Town, London NW5 on Saturday March 8th. It's a family affair with the l'il bro's band Toupé on the bill, as well as The Goose and Clatter all of whom are foxing awesome. Expect madness. (Not the band.) And finally, a humble plea... as you know this is a bit of a low spec operation and it wouldn't have been worth doing at all without you folks turning up to the first gigs and listening to the music so far - something for which I'm utterly and eternally in your debt.
