IT'S HERE!!! My Shiny new MacBook Pro has arrived an, lo, it is luverly. Hardly had a chance to play with it though.... I don't want to get all the audio/studio stuff installed until I've finished the heinous crime of turning it into a dual boot Windows XP machine so I can use it for the day job as well. Which is pretty much what I'd managed by the early hours of this morning after one OS X re-install and two goes at XP. (I changed my mind about some stuff, and borked some other stuff. Ooops.) The Boot Camp software worked pretty well, as it goes, although it took a couple of attempts to install all the drivers - the ATI graphics card driver had a bit of a BSOD panic.

Altogether now: "Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek."

Alas, though, this isn't the first post written on this technological wunderkind. Nope. BT Broadband still haven't got their act together so my new toy will have to wait a while before it can play on the interwebs. Soon, my precious. Soooon.

Also, it means that it's unlikely to be up and running and fully registered/activated for the Cassette gig on the 30th November at Clockwork in Islington, so the existing iBook-based Looptron live rig will be in action. Hopefully a goodly few of you'll be out to play for that. It must be good stuff because I've been singing one of the tunes for the last three days straight....

If something bigger comes along you might lose your domain.... the moral of this story is BUY YOUR REAL WEB DOMAIN NAME, kids. And guard it with your life....that virtual real estate is precious.

(WRM, anyone out there know anything about this Second Life malarkey and whether or not I should be promoting in there?)

Still got no broadband at home (although BT assure me it'll be any week now) and apparently my MacBook Pro is trundling round Norff Londahn in a van at this very moment. Which is a shame, actually, cos no one is home to sign for it...

Some stuff going on behind the scenes though, will post about it as soon as I have a chance. Oh and there's some Moeker and Cassette gigs (mostly TBC at this point) that I've put up on the Looptron MySpaz page.

"Big labels are fucked, and DRM is dead." The guy they're talking to is Peter Jenner, former manager of The Clash, Pink Floyd, T. Rex, etc. Basically, he's trying to bring about the end of the major label monopolies and replacing current DRM download music with something more like the collection mechanisms they use to reclaim royalties for radio stations. Good stuff. Not sure if it really is the future, but good stuff....
